I love how the earthworks are preserved but are minimally maintained. I've been to several forts that have been rebuilt, but this is totally new experience. Be sure to go past the main structure of the fort to see the fortifications closer to the water via the very cool trenchworks.
The fact that I love history plus the fact that I grew up down the street from this place makes this a very special place for me to visit.
Excellent place to relax and take in a bit of history. Great for walking, exploring, and photography. Dogs are welcomed.
Great open park which is good for activitie. Also it is the best spot to watch the Groton/New London 4th of July fireworks.
