Also, that cheapness seems to have attracted a bit of a party crowd. On my last visit, I came in late (3am or so), and the wing my room was in had a bunch of people milling around, and once I was settled in my room for sleep, those people got very talkative and noisy, with some music wafting in from several rooms down. And that wasn't all that was wafting... Let's just say it was about 4:20 AM before I was able to sleep.
I may not return, I'm part of the Choice Rewards program, and if they're leaving/booted-out, I'll no longer be getting points there, and other hotels in the area can better step in. Also, if the chain is disassociating itself, it may be a sign of further decline.
On one hand, the best prices in the area, even with the suites. Nice staff. The WiFi is pretty good.
The size of the room was impressive. The staff was pleasant and the room was pretty clean. TV works.
On the other hand, the cheapness shows. Little things in disrepair here and there. Some smoking rooms could stand to be aired out a bit more often.
I personally very much enjoyed my stay here. I don't require much, myself other than that the room is clean and spacious enough I can do my work and still have enough room to lounge without feeling like I'm tripping over myself.
The rooms here are very spacious although they could use some updating and maintenance. That said, they are clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the efficiency suite the most as it is the best climate controlled in my opinion. My husband and I stayed in the Presidential Room for our Anniversary one year because it was affordable and clean and allowed us to do some sight seeing without spending a fortune. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the same boat as myself, who doesn't need a lot but enjoys the space when they can get it!
The towels were so thin you could almost see through them. The sheets were nearly worn through, too. Same goes for carpet. I guess owners are too cheap to keep the place up to snuff.
We chose this hotel to save a little money since we were going to be here for several nights. Couldn't eat their breakfast offerings, but that was fine. We picked up a package of muffins at a grocery store.
I'll start out with what everyone is looking to see, the hotel is outdated, sure whatever. We came in from out of town for a family wedding where the other room options around were at the lowest, $100 more a night then what we paid to stay at Econo Lodge, that being said, I don't care about the old fridge, or the visibly old decorations... the size of the room.. HUGE, the bed? SO COMFY! The rooms were really clean even if outdated, the check in process was a breeze. check out process, equally as simple. we didn't have any issues with our room. the safety and security of the hotel leaves a little to be desired. the windows wouldn't close so we couldn't lock them on the bottom floor, leaving me a little nervous to leave things in the room while we were gone, as there were some.. shady people staying a few rooms down. I'm pretty certain hotel staff lives right on site.. so there were a few strange things, but for the most part, our stay was great, you get what you pay for, and the price is perfect.
I've stayed there quite a bit in recent years, and It's a mixed bag.
Gross!!! Room smelled like stale cigarettes, comforter had burn holes, I had to wipe down everything and lysol everything. Wouldn't have stayed here if it wasn't so late to drive home. Checked out as soon as the sun came up. There is definitely mold in the room because my son and myself allergies started acting up. Please Do Not book a room here. ( Note to owners. You guys keep apologizing to guests for not being happy with their stay and state that you're going to mention the problem to management to fix the situation but obviously they are not listening if you guys are getting the same complaints from guests about the upkeep of rooms. They are outdated and unsafe.) My advice to you. Gut the entire property, better yet knock it down!
Since then I've noticed that the Choice Hotels website no longer lists this location, but it is still open for business. It may be leaving the chain, or is being forced out. So this may be another warning signal.
